Youth

Youth that come to Daybreak Canyon must be prepared for the rigors of our program. It is important to us that youth are involved in the decision making process whenever possible. This helps ensure that youth are excited about our program which helps them be successful.

Daybreak Canyon is committed to youth and their success. We ask parents to commit to us at least a year but from experience we know that sometimes youth are able to go home sooner than a year. That decision will be made by our treatment team including parents and referral sources. We also know from experience that youth sometimes take longer than a year to make the necessary changes and to assimilate fully the new skills and stewardship learned at Daybreak Canyon. Any extensions will also be made by the treatment team that includes parents and/or referral source.

Occasionally we realize that youth do not want to come to our program. We are prepared for that and can even refer parents to escorting companies that can safely transport their youth to Daybreak Canyon. The closest airport is Twin Falls and we can provide transport from the airport to Daybreak Canyon.

Youth need to be prepared for rigorous and challenging recreational activities. Daybreak Canyon provides some recreational supplies, some gear is required to be purchased by parents, and certain gear and equipment is optional for parents to purchase. During the admission process and also once a youth is placed, Daybreak Canyon will keep parents apprised of recreational activities as well as the options to purchase gear.
